Elin Sigurdson, Arvay Finlay’s newest associate, graduated from the University of British Columbia Law School in 2005, having studied both in Vancouver and at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands. She was a member of UBC's Wilson Competitive Moot team in 2004. She clerked at the BC Court of Appeal before completing her articles in 2007 at a major national firm in Vancouver. Her experience includes junioring matters at the Supreme Court of British Columbia and the Federal Court of Canada, as well as management of provincial court matters and chambers applications.
Elin's interests in human rights and health issues have led her to working as a volunteer in HIV/AIDS organizations and to work for the BC Centre for Disease Control in Vancouver and a workers' compensation organization in Australia. She has been involved in criminal law reform initiatives, and she has spoken at conferences in Canada and abroad on the impact of the criminalization of prostitution on vulnerable populations.
In her life outside of the law, Elin is a singer and songwriter, and enjoys running, cycling, dancing, playing Ultimate, reading fiction, travelling widely, and eating and cooking locally.
